How to Make the Perfect Pitcher of Spicy Margaritas for Your Summer Bash

When it comes to sipping on some cocktails this summer, margaritas are almost always a go-to choice. But no one wants to play mixologist all night with their guests! Find out how to make a delicious pitcher of spicy margaritas that you can make up to a couple days in advance that your guests will love. 

Spicy cocktails have become more and more popular, especially spicy margaritas. We love the taste of jalapeno mixed into our margaritas; it complements the fresh lime juice, tequila and agave nectar very nicely. Luckily for us, our friends at Tanteo Tequila have made mixing up a spicy margarita much easier and more delicious with their jalapeño tequila. 

Instead of muddling jalapeno, or infusing your own spirits, use Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila, which is already infused with jalapeño. It's made in the city of Tequila, Mexico (that's a real place!), and uses 100% agave tequila and real local organic jalapenos. Since we love our spicy margaritas, we wanted to learn how to make a whole pitcher for our summer parties.  

The biggest difference in making a pitcher of margs as opposed to a single version of Tanteo's signature spicy margarita is that you add water in with the other ingredients. The single margarita is mixed in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, which naturally dilutes the margarita. However, adding ice to the pitcher ahead of time will dilute it too much, and just 4 ounces of water will do. It helps balance out the sweetness of the agave and tartness of the lime juice. 

This pitcher recipe makes 6 cocktails, but can easily be double or tripled for larger groups. The best part? You can make it a day or two in advance and store it in your fridge! That way, you aren't stressed during the day of your summer bash. Store in a closed-lid canister, pitcher or even a larger Tupperware container so that it stays fresh until ready to serve. When your guests arrive, just pour over ice and garnish with a lime wedge or jalapeno slice! 

  • 12 ounces Tanteo® Jalapeño Tequila
  • 6 ounces Fresh Lime Juice
  • 4 ounces Agave Nectar (Agave is prefered. If none is available, simple syrup will do)
  • 4 ounces water

Pour all of the ingredients into a large pitcher (or the storage container of your liking). Stir up well using a cocktail stirrer or any large spoon.

Store in the fridge up to two days before needing to serve.

When ready to serve, pour into ice-filled glasses, and garnish with a lime wheel or jalapeño slice.
