Puppy Love Chow: Valentine's Day Muddy Buddy Recipe

Sure, the old saying goes, "the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach." But to be quite honest, we think this needs to be updated! The necessary addition should be, ‘the way to EVERYONE’S heart is through their stomachs!"

We think giving a thoughtful gift is the perfect way to show you care on Valentine’s Day. If that gift is edible, they more power to ya!

Whether it’s for your sweetie, your friends and family, or co-workers – this recipe we’re calling Puppy LOVE Chow is definitely a hit! It’s just an update we made to the classic Puppy Chow or Muddy Buddy mix made with Chex cereal you’ve probably had before – but this one is special. You’ll see!

Ingredients
  • 9 cups Chex cereal – (either corn, rice, or a mix of both!)
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2-4 drops red food coloring
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup red, white, and pink chocolate candies
  • 2 Tablespoons red sprinkles
Directions

Place the chocolate, butter, and peanut butter into a large microwave safe bowl. Microwave uncovered for one minute. Remove to stir, and microwave for 30 more seconds. Stir until all is blended.

Then, stir in food coloring and vanilla. The mixture should have a nice pink color. Slowly stir in cereal.

Once cooled just slightly, pour into a 2 gallon sealable bag. Shake with the powdered sugar and sprinkles until all is coated. Then, toss with red and white candies.

Makes: 9 cups
