There aren’t many things better in this world than a mug of warm apple cider in your hands on a crisp fall afternoon. Try out our simple recipe for spiked apple cider today – it’s quick to make and delicious to enjoy. We also love that it leaves your whole house scented with the lingering smell of autumnal spices!

For your next fall gathering, make a big batch of cider and spike with some delicious dark rum. This cider embodies the succulent fruit of the season, and packs a bold, spicy flavor that's perfect for fall.

  • 1 cup dark rum
  • 1 apple
  • 2 teaspoons whole cloves
  • 1 orange peel
  • 2 quarts apple cider
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • Pinch grated nutmeg
  • Cinnamon sticks, garnish

Stud the apple with the cloves. In a medium pot, combine the studded apple and remaining ingredients, except the rum. Slowly bring to a simmer over low heat. Simmer for 10 minutes.
