Choose a Theme

By picking one fun theme to center your party around, you’ll find that all of the elements of party decor, refreshments, and even tunes will just fall into place! Here are some ‘summery’ themes we love: beach, luau, patriotic, or even just choosing one or two bright summer colors to build your party around!

Make a Serve Yourself Drinks Table

Create a ‘Serve Yourself’ Bar

You’ll be so happy you prepped the bar beforehand when it means you’re not having to stand behind the bar all night and instead you can mingle with your guests! By creating a ‘serve yourself’ bar with simple ingredients and all of the accoutrements, guests will love having fun mixing up drinks! Also, consider a simple ‘make ahead’ recipe like a punch to serve in a big bowl or pitcher that is ready to go before the party even starts!

Arm Yourself Against the Elements

Combat the Elements

If your summer party venue is outdoors then that means you and your guests are completely at the mercy of mother nature and her minions. A cute centerpiece for your next outdoor soiree could be as simple as a tin pail filled with pretty pinwheels, but also pack it with great ingredients to help you combat mother nature. Bug spray, sunscreen, and citronella candles are all great items to put inside your fun summer-party-prep centerpiece.

How to Ask Guests to BYOB

BYOB the Classy Way

If you’d like your guests to BTO (Bring Their Own) then don’t be shy! There’s totally a classy way to handle this - and you’ll hopefully end up with less warm booze than normal because people can help out by bringing ice and cold beverages! If you’d like to provide food, but need people to help out with drinks, just say so in the invite! Your friends are most likely pleased as punch to have a fun summer party to attend!
