Christmas Bingo

Bingo Basics:

In traditional bingo, each player takes a card with a five by five grid. The word "BINGO" is displayed on the top with numbers underneath it. Someone moderates the game and calls out the number and letter combination until someone wins by getting a Bingo.

Alternative ways to play include: having a marker on four corners or forming an X on the Bingo card.

Holiday Bingo:

In order to revise this popular game for the holidays, change the cards by coloring holiday graphics or words in exchange for numbers.

Here are some to consider:

Santa
Reindeer
Elves
Toys
Candy canes
Snowman
Mistletoe
Hot chocolate
Christmas tree
Angel
Ornament
Stocking
Candle
Presents
Sleigh
North pole
Snowflakes
Carolers
Jingle bells
Lights
Bow
Wreath
Gingerbread man
Christmas cookies

Keep the word BINGO at top or substitute a holiday-themed word, such as "CLAUS." If you're using words versus images, watch out for the double letters (i.e. the "A" in "Santa" or "Claus").

Kids Christmas Skit: A Good Thing About Christmas Is

If you want a Christmas skit for kids that works for all ages, consider this option adapted from the Boy Scouts. Great for large or small groups, here are three other reasons to act out this skit.
  • It encourages creativity because children can help choose what words to say.
  • It is meant to be funny by posing sarcastic/ironic reactions to favorite things about Christmas.
  • It is super simple, requiring virtually no props. All children have to do is say their lines and perform hand motions, if applicable.
Tips:
  • With small groups, children may want to say more than one action. In large groups, split up the verses letting one child says a good thing about Christmas, and another responds with the bad.
  • You can always add props if think kids would enjoy it. In the example, have the child open an actual present and leave the paper on the floor. Then, he can pick it up, too.

A Christmas Acrostic Skit

For kids just starting to read, this play on words about Christmas is educational and entertaining. It is also flexible, because you can choose a word to fit any size group, ages and setting.

Tips:
  • Have fun with the word you choose for each letter.
  • Use two words for large groups.
  • Sing a Christmas carol after each child states his letter.

Mexican Music for Pinata breaking at your "Feliz Navidad" Christmas Party

Pinatas filled with candy are another huge part of a Mexican Christmas.

  • A five-point star shape is typically used.

To play, each child is blindfolded, spun around and tries to break the pinata open by hitting it with a stick.

Find a range of Pinatas from our partner Birthday in a Box.
