Some people may be more pickle obsessed than others, but it's safe to say pickles go hand in hand with a good sandwich or burger. Since football season has officially kicked off, and no game day is complete without either of those menu choices, we're infusing our tailgate foods with some sweet and tangy pickles.
So, grab a jar of pickles before you hit the stadium and try one of these fun pickled game day recipes at your tailgate!
Spicy Pickle Back Shot

A good tailgating pre-game is key before a game - I like to get my drink on a bit early in order to warm up before a cold footballs game.
You might be into a few rounds of beer pong in the parking lot or a cup of hot spiked coffee, but this pickle back shot will not disappoint and it will definitely warm your bones. If whiskey is your drink of choice, you might already by familiar with pickle back shots. Our version has a spicy kick you will love.
All you'll need for this shot is:
one jar of Farmer's Garden by Vlasic Zesty Garlic Chips
and a bottle of your favorite Irish whiskey. We love Kilbeggan, so that's what we used.
Take two shot glasses and fill one with a shot of your zesty garlic pickle juice and one with a shot of whiskey. Take the shot of the whiskey first, then follow it immediately with the shot of the pickle juice to enhance the taste of the whiskey. That's all it takes and you've got yourself a spicy pickle back!
Skinny Turkey Reuben

A hearty sandwich or burger is always a good route to go before a game. As you guzzle down those beers and pickle back shots, you're going to need some carbs. This skinny turkey reuben is made with a low-cal pickled thousand island dressing and reduced fat swiss.
Sweet Pickled Potato Salad

Potato salad is a fan favorite. We whipped up this recipe with a jar of sweet bread and butter pickles then placed a few scoops into mini mason jars so each person at our tailgate can enjoy their own individual portion.
