Bandana Print Banner

The idea for this fun and festive banner was inspired by the cool graphics on Pear Tree Greeting's Fourth of July Sparkle in the Sky party invitations. The invitation's crisp white design on a red background reminded me of a bandana print, and the blue ribbon graphics just invited me to add some blue grosgrain ribbon ties between each piece of fabric.

The fabric banner can be displayed year after year at your 4th of July celebration.  And the good news? No sewing! 

Supplies

1 red bandana
1 white bandana
5 yards of 3/8 inch blue grosgrain ribbon
desired length of ribbon or cording to hang the banner
iron-on fusible hem tape
scissors
ruler

Directions

Step 1: Cut each bandana into 2 1/2 inch by 5 inch rectangles.

Step 2: One by one, place each fabric rectangle, wrong side up on the ironing board.

Step 3: Lay the cording about 1/2 inch below the top of the fabric.

Step 4: Cut a 2 1/2 inch piece of fusible tape and place just beneath the cording.

Step 5: Fold the top of the fabric over the cording and fusible tape and iron in place. Follow the manufacturers directions for the iron setting for the fusible tape.

Step 6: Tie a 3 inch length of blue ribbon between each piece of fabric.

Hang the finished banner and let the red, white and blue wave in the breeze as you salute America's birthday!
