Adorable on their own, the aww! factor goes even higher when babies get dressed up for their big Halloween debut. Since babies only wear costumes for a few hours one night of the year, they do not need to be elaborate or expensive.

M&M Cutie

Halloween is all about sweet treats and nothing is sweeter than a baby. Play up this trait by turning your little one into the classic chocolate candy for the night.

Supplies

white long-sleeve bodysuit or shirt
white pants or tights
2 large felt pieces in an M&M color
white ribbon
white fabric paint

Directions

Start by cutting two circles (based on the size of your baby) out of the felt pieces.

Paint a large M on the front of one piece.

Cut two slits in the top of each circle and tie together with ribbon so they will slip over your babys head.

Pumpkin Pie

How many times have you seen photographs of babies dressed as pumpkins for a first Halloween?

Because the iconic jack-o-lantern is a popular choice for the youngest trick-or-treaters, they are easy to find in both brick-and-mortar stores and online shops. The loose-fitting bodysuit of a plush pumpkin costume fluffs out to the perfect round shape.

Mini Me

For an original and creative baby costume, dress baby up to look like Mommy or Daddy. It is an easy costume, especially if your baby looks more like one parent.

Even better? You probably have most everything you need. For example, if Dad likes sports, a team sweatshirt, pair of blue jeans and small cap is all you need to get the look.

Wild Thing!

You can find all sorts of animal costumes in stores, but they can be expensive. Make one yourself out of clothes and other objects you already have. For example, to make a bunny costume:

  1. Start with a solid brown outfit, socks, mittens and cap.
  2. Hot glue cotton balls to the back of the outfit for a tail.
  3. For ears, cut two triangle shapes from brown paper and glue to the cap.

Tip: Use any solid color outfit you have available to create different types of animal costumes.

Spooky Skeleton

For a Halloween costume that is worn after the big night has come and gone, check out the sleepwear departments of your favorite stores. Many retailers have seasonal selections that make instant costumes. Boys and girls alike will be the hit of the party in a pajama set-turned-skeleton. It is simple, practical and takes baby straight from party to bed.
