Super Bowl may be about football, but for me, it's mainly about the food. I've never gotten into football except when it comes to making dips, sliders and sides for my family that comes over to celebrate game day.
You can always get creative with your food and there are so many ways to make it more Super Bowl friendly. Try new recipes, dabble in new trends and go big!
1. Go Printable Crazy
I love the idea of dressing up food with printables. From little food toppers made with toothpicks to DIY banners and paper drink koozies, there are so many ways you can get creative. You can go a bit more evergreen by using footballs and phrases like "Go Team!" or if your team is playing in the big game, use team colors to decorate your food and buffet table.
2. Use Props
Don't have the skills to make your own printables? Using little props will add a unique touch to your foods. For example, stick a clean rubber whistle on top of your freshly frosted cupcakes as a themed cupcake topper. You can also buy black and white striped cupcake wrappers or decorative holders to give it more of a referee look.
3. Turn Your Food Into Footballs
Whether you are making rice krispie treats or a huge bowl of guacamole, there's always a way to add some football flair. Shape your treats into footballs and pipe the laces of a football on top with melted chocolate or whipped cream. For a dip or bowl of guacamole, do the same, but use sour cream instead of chocolate.
I especially love these little football whoopie pies (pictured above) from Make Merry Events. There's no change in recipe from making a normal whoppie pie, just shape like a football and add some laces on top!

4. Make a Snack Stadium
So there are tons of ideas about how to take a million snacks and turn them into a giant edible stadium. From Twinkies to sandwiches and a various array of candies, there are so many ways to construct your own. Personally, I happen to love the idea of my own little Super Bowl sundae, thought up by In Katrina's Kitchen.
It doesn't seem too hard to make either! Take a waffle bowl and line the inside with royal icing. Fill with sprinkles and top with your favorite green colored ice cream. Then pipe on your football field with more icing and add some football players (more sprinkles). How cute is that?!
5. Beer Decor
Beer and football always go hand in hand, so why not use it to your advantage when it comes to decorating a buffet or dinner table? Fill a big silver trough with ice and scatter beers throughout. Also think about putting floral arrangements in a beer mug to accent the table.
