Birds, Bees, and Booze: Talk to your son or daughter about touchy prom topics like alcohol or sex before the party. Theres nothing that teens hate more than being put on the spot in front of their entourage!
Text Updates: Ask your teen what their after-prom party plans are at least a week in advance of prom. Make an agreement with them to text you after prom to give you an update. That way, you'll know that they're safe and your teen won't feel lame checking in with you in front of their friends.
Bonding for The Big Day: Take photos of your teen and help them get beautified before the big event.
Negotiate Your Prom Budget: Do this in advance so that both of you are on the same page about how much you can spend for items like the after-prom party, pre-prom party, and the tux or dress. It can be difficult for families to send their children to prom during the recession. Help your teen take on a part-time job or give them a list of extra chores to do in case they want some extra funds to use towards prom.
Earn Karma Points: Help your daughter donate her dress after prom is over. Check out DonateMyDress.org for details.
