Candy Pendants

Candy pendants are a fun twist on the original candy necklaces. They make a great activity for a girl's birthday party.

Preparation

To create candy pendants, you will need:*
• assorted candies (Swedish Fish, Dots and Airheads Sweetly Sour Belts used here)
• bails
• clear jewelry cording or white thread
• tapestry needle
• scissors
• ribbon
*Bails (trinkets that connect pendants to necklaces) and cording are available in the jewelry section of the craft store. You can also use clear elastic cording or white thread in a pinch. Find the needles (any blunt needle with a large eye) and scissors in the sewing section of the craft store.

Steps

To make the fish pendant:
Thread a tapestry needle with a piece of cording or thread about 6 inches long and push through the tail of a Swedish Fish. You don’t need to knot the end of the cording before pushing through the fish, but make sure not to pull the cording all the way through the fish. Tie the two ends of the cording to the flat end of the bail. Make a very tight knot and snip the ends. Thread ribbon through the other end of the bail to make a necklace.
To make the dots pendant:
Take a piece of jewelry cording or thread about 12 inches long. Thread and pull needle to the center of the cording. Tie the two ends of the cording with a tight, double knot (you will now have a double piece of cording). Push needle through the center of Dots candy and push candy to the knot. Repeat with as many candies as you like. When finished, cut cording close to the eye of the needle and use the two ends of the cording to tie onto the flat part of the bail. Snip the ends of the cording close to the knot. Thread ribbon through the other end of the bail to make a necklace.
To make the sweet n’ sour ribbon pendant:
Follow the instructions for the dots pendant to thread and knot your needle. Take an Airheads Sweetly Sour Belt strip. Hold one end of the strip. Fold strip back and forth five times, like you would to create a paper fan (“accordion” style). Hold folded strip with one hand. With other hand, push needle through from bottom to top until bottom of the strip hits the knot in the cording. Cut the cording close to the needle and use the two ends of the cording to tie onto the flat part of the bail. Snip the ends of the cording close to the knot. Thread ribbon through the other end of the bail to make a necklace.
