Cheap Summer Party Tip #1: Frozen, Frugal, and Fabulous
The cool thing about a frozen little something is that you can add an inexpensive sculptural element to beverages or your party table decor.

  • Ice Bowl - Create a translucent ice bowl embedded with flowers or leaves.

  1. Find 2 nesting bowls, or a large and small bowl with a similar shape, and fill the larger bowl halfway with water.
  2. Place the smaller bowl inside the larger bowl and weight it down a bit with a clean rock; you want the bowl to float and have about an inch of water on the bottom.
  3. Add flowers or leavers in between the bowls, wedging them down into a nice arrangement.
  4. Use tape across the top of both bowls to keep the smaller one centered and freeze until solid.
  5. Unmold and place on a broiler pan that is completely covered with leaves. The pan will catch the water as it melts. Tip: check on the water level throughout the party and use a baster to remove water if necessary.
  6. Fill the bowl with fruit or fresh veggies and place on the party table.

  • Frozen Fruit Cubes - One of my favorite party beverage ideas is to use frozen strawberries in pink lemonade. A more economical version would be to chop fruit such as berries, lemons, or limes and add the pieces to an ice cube tray with water. Freeze and use in sparkling water.
