Chocolate Ganache Frosting

I have so many friends who are pastry chefs and can make amazing fussy frostings from scratch. I take the tasty yet easy way out and make this great ganache for all my homemade chocolate frosted cakes. Otherwise I go for the creamy goodness of frosting in a can!

 

Ingredients
  • 1 1/3 cups heavy whipping cream

  • 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips

Steps
  • Bring cream to a boil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Place chocolate chips in a medium bowl and pour hot cream over chocolate stirring until completely smooth. Cool to room temperature then cover and chill until ready to use.

  • Remove chocolate mixture from refrigerator and beat until mixture thickens to consistency of frosting.

    Makes about 3 cups
