C is for cookie, that's good enough for me! Create fun Cookie Monster cupcakes by turning the frosting into a fuzzy blue head, and adding two googley eyes on top.
Finish off the look by popping half a chocolate chip cookie into the frosting where the mouth would be so that it looks like the Cookie Monster is devouring a cookie.
Note: For these adorable cupcakes, you'll also need to have half as many chocolate chip cookies as you have cupcakes.
Difficulty Rating: Easy-Medium
Ingredients
- Blue food coloring
- Half as many chocolate chip cookies as you are making cupcakes
- Blue superfine sprinkles
- Plastic pastry bag
- Black food coloring, or large, flat, circular black sprinkles
Steps
- Add blue food coloring to white frosting to create a medium-blue hue that matches the Cookie Monster’s fur. Frost the cupcakes with a big mound of blue frosting, and create a half-dome shape on top.
- Use a fork angled parallel to the table to press lightly into the blue frosting, and lift up. This should create a spiky, uneven texture where the fork lifted up. Continue doing this all over the frosting dome until you’ve created an effect similar to the Cookie Monster’s spiky, disheveled fur.
- Add plain white frosting into a pastry bag, and pipe on two large white eyeballs on top of the head. Create eyeballs by doing the same with frosting dyed black, or by adding two flat black circular sprinkles in the center of the eyeballs.
- Break the cookies in half and stick one half into the lower part of the cupcake below the eyes. Place it exactly where the Cookie Monster’s open mouth would be to make it look as if he is devouring the cookie.
