Table decorations are a central element to Kwanzaa celebrations. The table highlights most of the seven holiday symbols, so be creative with the setting.
- fabric cloth Start with a black cloth over the entire table. Use red and green cloths folded lengthwise (or strips of red and green fabric) laid side by side down the center of the table as a runner.
- mkeka Place this traditional African place mat in the middle of the table.
- harvest On top of the mat, pile fruits, vegetable and nuts. Include one ear of corn, or muhindi, for each child in the house.
- kinara A symbolic candleholder, this decoration goes in the center of the table.
- Extras Fill in with a unity cup and African artifacts.
