Supplies:
- Tamale cornhusks
- Food coloring
- Leaf templates from Martha Stewart
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Dark brown cardstock for the card
- Glue stick
Instructions:
Step 1. Download the leaf templates at Martha Stewart, print out and cut out leaf shapes.
Step 2. Add a few drops of food coloring (red or green work well) to bowls of hot water. Soak corn husks until they reach the desired color, then let them dry between paper towels underneath a heavy book.
Step 3. Use the pencil to trace the leaf shapes onto the dyed tamale cornhusks, and cut them out with scissors.
Step 4. Fold the dark brown cardstock in half to create a tented card. Either write a Thanksgiving greeting inside, or run it through the printer for a professional look.
Step 5. Arrange the cornhusk leaves in layers across the front of the dark brown cardstock (folded in half), gluing each down only in the center of the leaf to let the outer edges flutter up naturally. This will mimic a pile of autumn leaves on the front of the card.
