Get Creative with Cookies
Find out how easy it is to make ordinary cookies look and taste great.

Personalize It

  • Put some chocolate in a ziploc bag and melt it in the microwave so that it forms a thick liquid.
  • Cut a small corner off the bag and squeeze the chocolate through.
  • Practice writing on foil. Once you have the feel for it, customize your cookies with your guests' initials.

Cheat Sheet

  • If you are strapped for time, use store bought cookies and dip them in chocolate and top.
  • Stay away from signature cookies like oreos; no one needs to know that they aren't homemade.

Mix it Up

  • Experiment with different kids of cookies, like chocolate chip, oatmeal, or gingerbread.
  • Get really adventurous and combine two.

Double Dip

  • Try using different types of chocolate: white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate.
  • Feel free to layer the chocolates and toppings, just make sure that you let them cool in between.
  • White chocolate can be dyed with food coloring to match your decor or theme.

Top it Off

  • Use whatever candy you have around the house, such as crushed snickers bars, or shaved peppermint patties.
  • Sprinkles, nuts, and even cereals can be a nice touch to an ordinary cookie.
