Handmade Jeweled Ornament

Decorating Styrofoam balls by inserting pins, beads, and sequins into them was a holiday craft I loved when I was little. With all the gorgeous ribbons and jewelry accents available at most craft stores, you can turn a glass or nice plastic ball into your own Faberge-inspired ornament as a handmade gift.

To Make Handmade Jeweled Ornaments:

  • Select glass or plastic ball balls as the ornament base that you will decorate.
  • Shop at a craft store with a jewelry-making section to find items to accent the ornament such as: rhinestones, delicate pearl chains, jewelry findings, hooks, clasps, jump rings, embroidered ribbon, beads, tassels, and embellishments.
  • Pick up a tube of jewelry glue and gather materials like tweezers, needle nose pliers, toothpicks, and the like to aid you in crafting the ornament.
  • Glue ribbon, jewelry findings with attachment hooks and jump rings on to the ornament with jewelry glue.
  • Glue rhinestones, pearls, and spakly items on to the ball in a decorative design.
  • Use jump rings to dangle jeweled strands and a tassel to the ornament.
  • Place the ornament in a nice gift box with a bed of tissue paper to give as a gift.
