Once all the chrysanthemum cupcakes have been created, it's time to make the cupcake stand to place them on.
This stand can be used for any type of cupcakes you'd like, as well as cookies and other individual portion pastries.

Preparation
- Supplies:
- 4 different sizes of cake board (try a 16", 12", 8" and 4")
- 2 Cake Dummies - 6 inches in diameter by four inches high. Can be purchased at the Baker's Kitchen online for $3.99 each.
- ¼ inch thick ribbon of choice for trim
- Wrapping paper of choice to cover the cakeboard
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Pencil
- 1 oversized silk flower in your chosen color scheme to put on the top layer, optional
- If using the oversized silk flower on top, you'll also need a single plate on a thin stand to place atop the top cakeboard / cupcake layer (see picture).
Steps
- Place the cake boards on top of your chosen wrapping paper, with the patterned side facing downward. Use a pencil to lightly trace the outline of each cake board, and do it twice so you will have two outlines for each size.
- Use scissors to cut out all six of the cake board circle outlines on the wrapping paper.
- Cover one side of each cake board with a glue stick and affix the corresponding size circle on top. Flip the boards over and repeat with the other side so both sides are covered in the wrapping paper.
- Run the glue stick along the edge of each cake board. Cover the edges with the ½ inch ribbon to create a coordinating trim that hides the edges.
- Cut a 4 inch thick, very long strip of the wrapping paper. Use this to cover the outside of the cake dummies so they will blend in with the covered cake board.
- Spread glue stick across the flat surfaces of the cake dummies. Place the first (16”) flat layer of cake board down on a table and put the first cake dummy in the center. Then, place the 12” flat layer of cake board centered over the cake dummy and press down to glue it in place.
- Repeat with the next layer and you have a completed cupcake stand.
- To create the silk flower topping, tie long lengths of your half inch ribbon to the base of the over-sized silk flower. Stack a tiered plate atop the top layer of the cupcake stand in the middle. Put the flower on the plate and allow the ribbon to flow over and down the sides of the cupcake stand for a pretty finishing touch.
