Smack dab in the middle of January, my birthday invariably falls on the coldest day of the year. For those of us--both young and not so young--who have envied other kids' birthday parties thrown outside under the summer sun, let this be the year we celebrate our HALF birthdays! Here's a few ideas to get you started thinking halfsies!
Make half invitations or cut ready-made invites in half.
Make a half birthday cake; or order one from the bakery and cut it in half, serving one side at a time.
Pre-light the birthday candles so they’re half gone when you present the cake!
BBQ burgers and serve on buns, and then cut them in half, of course. (But offer two.)
If you’re throwing a half-birthday for someone else, suggest that guests bring half gifts. Half-used items as gag gifts for adults or, for kids, one gift split up into two boxes/bags.
Sing only the last half the birthday song!
These are just a few ideas, but you can let your imagination run wild. And remember, just because it's a half birthday doesn't mean it can't be a whole lot of fun!
