Graduating can be equal parts exciting and terrifying. So why be so grave? Lighten the mood with a funny (or punny) poem. Here are a few tips for channeling your inner stand-up comedian.
- Write what you know: Draw from a humorous anecdote or personal story.
- Get cheeky: Have fun with the poem. If you're a parent, you've likely done all you can to prepare your graduate for the real world, so take a second to make them laugh.
- Write down a few things you wish you knew but no one told you. Usually this will be followed by a "whoops" moment, so don't be afraid to elaborate.
