Shapes and Colors Activities for a Birthday Party

As kids arrive for the party, direct them to their seat at the arts table where they can draw and paint freely on the paper tablecloth. When everyone is ready, try one or more of these activities to keep the party going.

• Building with blocks Set out blocks that come in different colors and shapes such as this wooden set from Melissa & Doug. Challenge kids to build the tallest tower or make the biggest house. 
• Crayon Shapes Following directions from Martha Stewart for melting crayons onto wax paper. In addition to hearts, cut out any shape kids choose.
