A fun and easy way to generate donations from your charity dinner party is to hold a silent auction.
Basically, the goal of a silent auction is to auction off goods and services quietly, during a specific time frame.
Typically the item or a description of the item is placed next to a lined sheet of paper where bidders write down their names and their bids.

Preparation
- A couple of weeks before the party ask your guests and members of the community to donate services, goods or items they'vemade to put up for auction.
A few ideas:- A private cooking lesson for two with a local chef.
- A day at the neighborhood spa.
- A free training session with a personal trainer.
Steps
- Before the party, place each item or a description of each item on a long table.
- Place a lined sheet of paper next to each item. The item description should be at the top with plenty of lines for your guests to write down their name and their bid.
- Once all of your guests arrive, go over the rules of the silent auction and have your guests begin to bid. Leave it open for an hour and close the bidding just before dinner is served.
- After dinner, announce the winners and remind guests that all of the money generated will be donated to your charity.
