A lighter and healthier choice for a tailgating party, you won't typically find these foods at a football game. It's important though to get them on the menu especially if you have friends at your tailgate who are there more to have fun with everyone than to root for a particular team.

Here are a few general ideas for your tailgate party menu:

Marinated chicken cutlets or a white fish. Prep it ahead of time, place in a baggie and pack on ice. Then, grill up for your figure-friendly friend.

Pre-make brown rice and/or whole wheat pasta, then create a salad out of it by adding some precooked, chopped veggies. Serve alongside 2 or 3 bottled dressings - lightened kinds of course!

Grilled vegetables with some balsamic vinegar drizzled over them

Skip the beer for this crowd and opt to pour them some white wine - a chilled chardonnay is a great choice. And you don't have to worry - keep it red-cup friendly and leave the wine glasses at home!

Some Healthy Tailgate Recipes:

Chili Stuffed Peppers are savory, easy to make ahead of time and full of football flavor. Serving inside a hollowed out pepper will give you a big veggie serving and keep you full longer.

You may call these salads, but bite-sized BLT cups are a far cry from boring greens. Bake the cups right on the grill and fill with pre-made BLT mix.

No football party is complete without guacamole and you can make a healthy version of this football dip quite easily.
