When planning my NYE party for 2013, I was searching for an invitation that offered the perfect blend of modern style and retro elements without too much of either. I found what I was looking for at Pear Tree Greetings - my Shaped to Celebrate New Year's Eve invitations captured the spirit of my party with soft lines, graphic details and muted tones that hint at the accents that would style my NYE Party.

I love the color combination of the muted peaches, greens and gray shades, and the geometric angels that dot across the invitation. The stars gave me inspiration for that twinkle that would grace my party table and the sturdy card stock inspired me to look for paper projects to complete the party theme.

Nothing captures of the spirit of old and new quite like the pairing of the retro and modern theme of my invites. I used them as the inspiration for my NYE party, capturing the muted tones of the peach and mint, with the shimmery elements of the gray to create a disco of pale colors and sparkly accents.

I started with running a teal paper runner across the top of the bar. I love the pale accent it lends to the cream bar and how well it complimented the silver elements that became the focal point of the party.

The classic cork screws coupled with glittery numbers continue the theme and the pale brown back ground on the numbers matched the pale hued party favor crackers. Having the numbers on hand, hinted at the countdown to come and the part each guest would have in ringing in the 2013.

Mixing and matching my parings of retro and modern, I combined traditional cake plates with mini disco balls and candles buried with deep silver dustings. The twist? I crafted my cake stands and embellished them with glittered 2013 decals.

Once the lights went dim, the candles illuminated the shimmering silver accents, like the 2013 on the cake stand and my beaded table runner, giving the whole bar a twinkly and glamorous effect perfect for a New Year's Eve party.

Scattering nibbles and extra stemware on the bar allowed guests to feel at home and help themselves, creating a welcoming and festive New Year party bar, which is essential to any successful NYE party. Make sure you follow our 10 tips for a NYE bar at home!

Speaking of the bar, you can't forget a signature bubbly cocktail for a New Year's Eve celebration. I opted for something a little less expected than the usual strawberry and champagne mix. My blackberry sparkler is as delicious as it sounds!

For a parting favor that sent all my guests home starting the New Year off on the right foot, I made party crackers full of hangover essentials!
