Spa parties are all about the pampering, yes, but really take advantage of getting the girls together for the day and plan a few other mind/body enhancing activities.
Before you sit down to lunch (or dinner) do an hour or so of light exercise.
To help plan and run the day’s activities I turned to my local gym and hired one of their trainers.
This was an easy and affordable way to make things more professional – trainers typically charge about $25 per hour (this will vary depending on your location).
It's well worth the charge for an hour or two. Not only will it relieve you from directing the class, it also ensures there's a professional in charge making sure everyone is doing their excercise properly to avoid injury.
When planning activities, take advantage of what is convenient.
Stretch classes, yoga and mat pilates can be done in most open spaces – either inside or outdoors in the lawn. They're also less intense than cardio workouts, so they'll stretch you out and make you feel good without getting to sweaty.
If you have a pool, then use it! Plan water-aerobics. Or if you live nearby trails plan a hike or a walk. Just be sure the activities are for groups!
Don’t forget to remind your friends to bring with them mats and towels, or be sure to remember to have enough on hand to provide for all your friends.
After your workout take a few minutes to slow down and meditate!
Movies, Mags and Music
Later on, as you and your girlfriends wait for nail polish to dry, face masks to set, and deep conditioner to soak in, you might want something to keep you entertained.
A stack of gossip and fashion magazines encourages chit-chat for an ultimate girls' night out.
Chick flicks playing on a TV that everyone has seen a bazillion times will also encourage chatter and won't consumer attention.
Light music or any kind of music you all love will help you and the girls relax, too!
