I grew up eating the world’s most delicious sugar cookies every Christmas. In fact, my Grandmother named them after me because they didn’t last long if I was around.
This recipe is incredibly easy, very basic and extremely delicious. Your guests will think you bought them from the local bakery - and best of all, you'll know how easy they were to make!

Basic Sugar Cookies:
Ingredients:
2 cups Basic Cookie Mix (*recipe below)
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350. Mix all ingredients in a stand mixer. Roll in colored sugar (mix a dab of food coloring with ¼ cup sugar), cinnamon/sugar mix or just plain sugar. Place rolled cookies onto cookie sheet and press down on each with the palm of your hand for desired thickness. Bake 10-14 minutes, or until golden brown on edges.
Basic Cookie Mix (7-8 cups):
Ingredients:
6 cups sifted flour
1 tablespoon salt
1 pound Crisco (2 1/3 cup)
Directions
Sift flour and salt together into a bowl. Cut the Crisco into your dry mix with two knives. Store in a covered container until ready to use.
Enjoy!
