Cupcakes are the perfect dessert for a shower. For a recent shower I threw for my niece, we worked with a nesting theme, so in keeping with the bird's nest theme I thought, why not serve little nest cupcakes?
The rest of our shower menu was very typical of what you'd find at most shower celebrations, but these cupcakes really drove our theme home and were such a hit with our guests.
Ingredients
cupcakes
white icing
shaved coconut
egg candies
Directions
Start off by baking a batch of your favorite cupcakes. I used vanilla, but you can go with whatever cake flavor you like!
Next (and once the cupcakes are cool) ice each one with white icing. You can use store brough like I did, or you can make your own. I keep things very semi-homemade when I prepare food for a large crowd!
After you've given each cupcake a layer of icing, dip the tops one by one into a shallow bowl filled with coconut shavings. I didn't toast mine, but you can - it will give it a brown look that looks more like the twigs that birds place in their nests.
Finally, top with some egg shaped candies and you're done!
