Birthday Card Ideas Using Magazines

Before you recycle that stash of old magazines and catalogs, flip through them again for card-making inspiration. Almost everything from pretty pictures to funny phrases to cool graphics works with these birthday card ideas. Start with plain cardstock (folded in half), write a little note inside and decorate the front with these tips.

  • Create a collage of birthday-related items. Cupcakes are an easy choice. Just cut out pictures of decorated cupcakes from different magazines and arrange them neatly on the card.
  • Look for the letters that spell "Happy Birthday," if unique fonts, and put them together for a simple greeting.
  • Find images such as flowers and cakes that are big enough to cover the front of the card. If how-to instructions or a recipe accompanies the picture, include it in the card as a special treat.
  • Cut out words to describe the card recipient and glue them to the front.
