Black and White Party Decorations

Part of the appeal of a black and white party lies in the graphic quality of the colors, and it doesn't take much to make a big impact.
  • Drape tables with crisp white cloths. Rent them, buy them at a party supply store or, in a pinch, use sheets.
  • Mix in black serving pieces with traditional white dishes for extra drama. Combine them with chic black and white partyware for guests to use.
  • To customize the celebration, choose several photographs of the guest of honor and have them enlarged in black and white to hang around the room.
  • Use big, beautiful white flowers as centerpieces. Find sleek black vases or use glass filled with black beads with a wide black ribbon tied around it.
  • Hang paper lanterns in black and white, of course. In a dimly lit room, the light from these ubiquitous party decorations will cast a dramatic glow.
  • Add unexpected accent in your color scheme such as these decorative birds, top hats and cocktail rings.
  • If you need a little color in addition to all the black and white, try metallics, yellow or the always-classic red.
