Blue Hawaiian Jell-O Shots

Contributor

We've turned the classic Blue Hawaiian cocktail into a vibrant looking and great tasting Jell-O shot. These Jell-O shots, like any Jell-O recipe, are incredibly simple to make, yet they add such a great pop of color to any party bar or table.

While you can see how great they look, we can tell you they promise to taste just as yummy. Flecked with coconut shavings and infused coconut rum, the Jell-O mixture fits perfectly and pairs perfectly with hollowed out orange halves.

Ingredients:

4 large oranges cleaned and halved

Raspberry Blue Jello Mix

1 1/2 cups of boiling water

1/2 cup of Malibu Rum

Handful of dried coconut shavings

Directions:

Core and halve 4 large naval oranges, being careful not to pierce the outer skin  when removing the insides. Once cored, place them in an empty egg carton top-side up. Set aside.

Next, in a large mixing bowl, or extra large measuring cup if you have it, add the jello contents and 1 1/2 cups of boiling water and stir until dissolved. I used the packet that calls for 2 cups of boiling water for this recipe, but adjust your water accordingly. You want to replace at least 1/2 cup of water per Jell-O packet with your rum.

Once dissolved add the rum and mix well before pouring it into the orange halves. This is wear a spouted tool comes in handy!

Before placing in the refrigerator to cool, sprinkle the coconut shavings across the top of each orange half and then allow to set for 2-3 hours.

Before serving, slice up the oranges into wedges and enjoy.

Makes:

24 shots
