Your 21st birthday is a fun milestone that marks true adulthood, you are finally legal to drink. However you decide to celebrate with your friends and family, we hope you do it creatively. Of course you can try out your first martini, sip on a glass of sangria or do a few Jell-O shots, but who said you can only drink your booze? You can eat it too!
Probably one of my favorite dessert ideas is a boozy cupcake. A subtle hint of alcohol and bite of surprise, I love the look on my friends faces when I tell them I baked with booze. You don't have to stop a cupcakes either. You can make boozy truffles, cookies, brownies so much more to celebrate your 21st birthday.
Here are a few ideas and recipes I found to get you started!
Of course no one can resist a good fudgey cookie, but this batch baked with coffee-flavored liqueur from Eclectic Recipes makes the perfect adult dessert. These bad boys aren't even from scratch so you can easily whip it up with a box of cake mix and a few other ingredients. Couldn't be easier than that!
Boozy Icebox Cake
If you are looking for a little extra zing, this icebox cake from Willow Bird Baking should do the trick. Full of whipped cream infused with almond liqueur (we like Amaretto), this recipe is a sweet treat with some much needed cookie crunch. All you have to do is layer your filling over Oreos, top with extra cookie crumbles and refridgerate overnight.
Spiked Margarita Shake
Everyone loves a good margarita, but have you tried a spiked margarita shake? This tangy dessert is blended up with lime sherbet, a little hint of lime juice and of course the two most important ingredients, triple sec and tequila.
Bourbon Molten Lava Cake
Chocolate lava cakes might be my favorite dessert ever. Cake with gooey liquid chocolate in the center; who can resist! Now add some bourbon and you've definitely got my attention. This version from Doughmesstic is made with Jim Beam Kentucky Bourbon and is a sinfully sweet way to celebrate your 21st.
Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes
For those that are unfamiliar, an Irish Car Bomb is a drink made with Guinness, Bailey's Irish Cream and Jameson. That is exactly what is in these cupcakes from I Really Like Food. A cake infused with stout, a filling full of whiskey and frosting loaded with Irish cream, these cupcakes may be a little bit more time consuming than the recipes above, but they are totally worth it!
