The recipe serves 8, but by doubling the ingredients you can have a warm winter punch that will serve 16 comfortably.
8 cups burgundy wine
8 ounces brandy
4 tablespoons brown sugar
2 ounces lemon juice
2 cups orange juice
8 whole cloves
15 whole peppercorns
10 whole cinnamon sticks
5 whole plums for garnish
In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients except the wine and plums.
Bring pot to a rolling boil and then cook for 10 minutes or until the mixture has reduced by half.
Before adding the wine, lower the heat. Then, simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Before serving, strain through a fine sieve and garnish with a slice of plum and a cinnamon stick.
