Bridal Shower Candle Poem & Activity

One of the more memorable moments at my bridal shower was when one of my best friends and bridesmaids gifted me with a basket of candles.

I know what you're thinking - candles - they're a given gift at showers! But there was something very special about this basket.

Filled with tapered candles of assorted colors and crystal candlestick holders, this bridal shower gift was only complete when my friend read the accompanying poem out loud to me in front of all my guests.

As special as this basket of candles was to me on the day of my shower, it's turned out to be the gift that keeps on giving in this first year of marriage.

You have to read the poem to get it, but suffice to say lighting my gorgeous tapered candles at certain milestones in my new marriage - including my first dinner party, our first fight and Valentine's Day - has made these moments bigger, better and more important.

Though the gesture itself is simple - the poem Jenn read to me the day of my bridal shower took only a few minutes, the candles she handed to me nothing special in themselves - became such a wonderful part of my first year of marriage and gave me more amazing memories than I could imagine. I'm looking forward to the other milestones they'll mark, too!
