Brownies Baked in a Holiday Tin

Recipe adapted from Jeanne Benedict's Sophisticated Entertaining. Imagine the look on your gift recipient's face when they pop the lid on a holiday tin and find a scrumptious batch of brownies inside!

Ingredients

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder

Makes about 16 brownies

Directions

Purchase an 8-inch diameter round metal holiday-themed tin with a lid. Make sure the design is on the outside of the tin only and check any labels that warn against putting the tin in your oven. Thoroughly wash and dry tin.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly spray the inside of the holiday tin with non-stick cooking spray.

Stir chocolate chips in top of a double boiler over simmering water until melted. Cool for 5 minutes. Beat cooled chocolate and butter in a medium bowl until combined. Beat in sugar until smooth. Add eggs and mix well. Gently fold in flour and cocoa powder until just combined.

Pour mixture into prepared tin.

Bake for 20 minutes or until knife inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in tin to room temperature.

Place the lid on the tin and pack the tin in a box with padding to send through the mail or a delivery service. I recommend a shipping speed to where the baked good arrives on the 3rd day at the latest.
