Bombs away with this mini cupcake that packs a fiery bang!
Nothing like a big surprise hidden under the frosting of these tiny bites to add to the element of pirate surprise to your buffet table.
These decadent cupcakes get their name from the fiery red hot candies folded into the frosting, hidden from view, so that each bite is like a cannon ball going off in your mouth.
Rich dark chocolate, red hot sweets and creamy frosting make this a cupcake that everyone will be reaching for, so make plenty.
2 cups of Granulated Sugar
2 cups of all purpose white flour
1 cup of dark cocoa
1 cup of Plain Greek Yogurt
1 cup of Water
1 cup of Unsalted Butter
1 teaspoon of Baking Powder
1 teaspoon of Baking Soda
1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon of White Vinegar
1 pinch of salt
1/2 cup of Vegetable oil
2 large eggs
For the cupcakes:
Pre-heat your oven to 350F and then line a cupcake tray with cupcake liners.
In a large, dry mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa, granulated sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together and mix until well blended.
Once blended, add your eggs to the dry mix, one at a time, followed by the vanilla, yogurt, oil, vinegar and water. Stir the mixture until the batter is smooth and creamy, and then, using an ice cream scooper, spoon it into your cupcake liners.
Bake your cupcakes for 10-12 minutes or until ready depending on the size of your cupcakes.
For the frosting:
Use your favorite butter cream frosting, add plenty of red hot candies and mix in black frosting dye until you have achieved the desired black shading to match your cupcakes.
Once blended, dip the cupcakes into the frosting pot to give them a rounded finish on top, taking care to twirl them as you raise them out of the frosting bowl.
For added surprise, keep the red hot candies a secret and watch the cannons go off with each bite your partygoers take!
