Adorable caramel apple bites are the perfect classroom treat for back to school, graduation, or to show your favorite teacher your appreciation. These little treats taste just like a real caramel apple and are surprisingly simple to make.

Ingredients

Caramel Candies
Pretzel Sticks (stem)
Green Candy or Green Fondant (leaf)
Red Candy Melts or White Chocolate, tinted red

Directions

Unwrap three caramel candies and knead together, using the warmth of your hands. Roll into a ball and proceed to sculpt into an apple shape. Push half of a pretzel stick into the top of your caramel for the stem.

Melt red candy melts according to package. You can also tint white chocolate with red candy coloring.

Add a few drops of sour apple flavoring or extract for a fun 'caramel apple' flavored treat!

Using the stem as a handle, dip the caramel into the melted candy, coating the entire caramel ball. Gently tap your wrist, letting the excess candy drip off, back into the bowl.

While candy is still wet, attach a handmade leaf out of green candy (try using green apple “Laffy Taffy”, green gumdrops, or fondant).

Press in veins of leaf with a toothpick or leaf press, for a more realistic look. Place on a piece of wax paper to dry. Refrigerate to help candy set more quickly.

Once candy has set and apples are dry, wrap them up in a clear plastic bag. Even attach a custom tag for gift giving!
