Caramelized Apples Over Ice Cream

Who can resist caramelized anything for dessert? This recipe is very simple to make and guess what! You don't have to just use apples. The great thing about this recipe is that you can  use whatever fruits that you already have on hand, such as: apples, pears, oranges or bananas! This is a dessert that is absolutely perfect for a last minute party!

Even if you have to run out to the grocery store to grab some additional ingredients, the prep time is minimal! If you are trying to make a non-dairy dessert, serve some rice milk or coconut milk ice cream instead of the traditional kind! This is one dessert that everyone will be sure to love, so you can send your guests home knowing everyone was completely satisfied with their meal!

Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter
3 Red Delicious Apples, peeled, sliced
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 (1 1/2 quart) container vanilla ice cream

Directions

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add apples and saute, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender, about 6 minutes. Add brown sugar and cook for 5 minutes more until sugar caramelizes. Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.

Spoon ice cream into 6 individual bowls or wineglasses and spoon caramel apples over top. Serve immediately.

Makes about 6 servings.
