April is sometimes a tease. I mean, it does start off with a joke, but more than that, here in New York, it's that limbo between spring and summer, tempting us with sunny mornings only to give us rainstorms by afternoon.
Well, April can tease us all it wants because we've got plenty of holidays and reasons to celebrate to distract us!
All Month Long We're Celebrating:
Among many things, April is National Pecan Month. Lately, we've gotten quite obsessed with sprinkling our desserts with nuts and pecans are some of our favorites. April is also National Humor Month, so take some time to celebrate the everyday and all those little things that bring a laugh your way.
Perhaps most importantly, April is Autism Awareness Month. For many, many years, autism went undetected, and while cases of diagnosis have grown exponentially in recent years, so too has awareness for the disease. And that's important. With more awareness, information and research, we can put an end to the disease that's now diagnosed in children more than AIDS, diabetes and cancer combined. Celebrate the brave children who combat this disease in a way they'll appreciate. We've got a really helpful article on how to plan a party for an autistic child.
