Celebrating something everyday should be something we just do naturally. But as busy as we are, sometimes we forget to appreciate the little things. And since spring is in the air, many people are finding ways to celebrate the new season. With the dreadful winter behind us, people are generally in good spirits thanks to the comfortable temperatures and warm sunshine. Although it’s March, through a fluke of Mother Nature, we’re experiencing temperatures in the 60s and 70s here in New York City. Since this is an unusual occurrence, it’s events like these that demand acknowledgement and require me to stop and smell the roses. Literally!
With the amazing weather, longer days and summer being just around the corner, it’s no surprise that I’m looking for a reason to be outdoors. So I had to devise a plan in order to take advantage of the sunshine since I am working girl and all.
In an effort to get my Vitamin D and take a mental breather from work, I celebrate spring by taking a short break every day at 3:00PM. As long as I don’t have a looming deadline, I find a way to step outside, take in the fresh crisp air and sit in the sun as I sip a nice ice coffee. It’s a small treat for me that I allow throughout the hustle and bustle of the city.
Plus, I believe destiny has a hand in improving my daily springtime ritual. Not only have they moved my office right in front of my favorite city park, Madison Square Park, but they’ve opened up a convenience store right next door with yummy ice coffee! It’s clearly a no-brainer to sit in the park and enjoy my coffee.
When I return from my short and sweet escape, I find myself renewed with energy and ready to tackle the remainder of the afternoon. OK, fine, perhaps the coffee may have a little something to do with the energy boost but I’m sure acknowledging and appreciating something everyday helps.
I firmly believe in celebrating something everyday. Over time it’ll become second nature to you and this small moment for yourself will really help you appreciate the day and find something positive to enjoy.
So since I enjoy celebrating springtime and the great weather with my coffee park excuse, it leads me to this question: What do you celebrate everyday?
