Children's Party Menu

In the spirit of the racetrack, stick with simple party foods in bite-size portions you might find at a racetrack. Be sure to add in some healthy alternatives as well! Remember to have something for the adults as well!
The Party featured items for the new kid's menu with organic and nutritionally-balanced options such as:

  • Grilled Cheese - Made with organic cheeses and whole wheat bread. Cut off the crust and use a cookie cutter to make them in fun shapes. You can order cookie cutters for almost any theme online!
  • Cheeseburger - Small sliders with an organic turkey burger and cheese
  • Hot Dogs - Mini sized and made with organic turkey.
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly - Sugar-free jelly and your choice of peanut butter or organic banana slices on whole wheat bread or a pita.
  • Pretzels and Goldfish crakers served in themed bowls.
  • Fish or Chicken Fingers - Made with whole wheat breading
  • Turkey Wafflewiches - Organic turkey with an organic cream cheese cranberry spread served on a crisp Waffle
  • CLIF Kids - Z Bars and Twisted fruit that come in individual packages were a great healthy snack for the kids
  • Revolution Foods - Pop Alongs, Grammy Sammys and Jammy Sammys are also great healthy, all-natural snacks for kids and can be handed out in their individual packages or served in a bowl or on a tray

Drinks:

  • Honest Kids Juice Pouches
  • For the adults we had Activate Water. They have these great water bottles with vitamins in the cap that you twist into the water right before you drink!
  • Bottled Water with custom label. You can design a label on your computer and print it off, or have custom labels designed at Candy Wrapper Store online.

Dessert:

  • Familyfun.com had a great idea for a racetrack cake! Make two round cakes placed side by side and frost them with green icing. Then, I placed a bowl in the center of each cake and sprinkled chocolate sprinkles around the bowls to make a figure 8 track. The bowls protect the inside grassy part of the track from getting sprinkles on them. You can put white Good and Plenty candies on the track to make a center line. On the top of the cake you can also add toppers like matchbox cars, racing flags or a trophy. Party Land has some great toppers.
  • If you aren't feeling creative, not to worry. Cake & Art makes amazing custom cakes. I had a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Cake created with a picture of my son and my dog Lulu Flynn to mirror the front of the invite.
  • Since the cake was car-shaped, I knew it wasn't going to be large enough to feed all of the guests. As a back up, I had a second cake to serve. Many local grocery stores can make racecar themed cakes. You can customize designs with inscriptions and often you can make changes to their pre-designed cakes. I looked on websites and picked out which cakes I liked best, then combined themes to make the perfect cake! Type out a memo of exactly what you would like on your cake and take it in to the bakery to see what they can do to make your design. I chose a Number 2 cutout and had them decorate the base with black & white checkers like a racing flag. On top they added little red flags and matchbox cars to create a race track.
  • Purchase car-shaped cookie cutters and decorate sugar cookies in black, white & red.
  • We had mini black & white CRUMBS cupcakes arranged to look like a checkered racing flag.
  • Mini Ice cream bars and single serve cups (avoid the mess of serving ice cream!) from Ben & Jerry's!
