This year for your Christmas table skip the usual place cards on the table and try crafting some festive place cards to rest on the backs of chairs.
Not only will this free up room on your crowded holiday table, it will also add some festive pizazz to your chairs, making an elegant first impression when your guests enter the room! This is unique idea to add to your Christmas decorations this year.

Ornaments
Use a paint pen (or a metallic Sharpie marker) and write a guest’s name on a matte surface ornament. Hang the ornament from the guests chair for a double duty place card and party favor! For an even more festive look, line the top of each chair with evergreen garland and hang the place card ornament from the garland.
Embroidery
If you are skilled at embroidery, or know someone who is, embroider your guests name on a linen napkin that fits your holiday theme. Artfully drape the napkin over the chair with the name facing out for another double duty place card/party favor! Another embroidery option is to embroider names on Santa hats that you perch on the corner of each chair!

Holiday Bow
Buy a package (or scrounge around your decorations closet and find some!) of Christmas bows. Using a circular paper punch to create the paper place card, attach the circle in the middle of the bow and affix the bow to the back of the chair for a happy and festive look.
Candy Cane Cross
Use the perennially popular red and white striped treats for your chair place cards. Cross 2 candy canes together and attached in the middle with a rubber band or zip tie. Place your circular name card (similar to the ones used in the red velvet bow place card) and attach to the middle. Then affix the candy canes to the chair
