Completely Edible Fruit Bowl Dessert

Contributor

Bursting with fresh seasonal fruits, a waffle bowl makes the perfect compliment to any spring party menu, particularly an eco-friendly one.

Set the waffle bowls on a serving tray alongside a fruit buffet and allow your guests to create their perfect fruit bowl. Offer a cloth napkin and an eco-friendly party fork and you have the ideal Earth Day menu item: no mess, no clean up and no waste.

I kept the theme of my eco-friendly spring party decorations going on the fruit buffet by marking the display with mini chalkboard signs. Pretty, functional and reusable!

I used only 4 fruits, but the sky is the limit with how many and what kind of fruit you choose to use. Being in Arizona, fresh whipped cream does not last long outdoors, but if it did, I can assure you that our buffet would also include a heaping bowl of this delicate and oh, so tempting topping.

For the fruit selection, I used:

Strawberries

Blueberries

Peaches

Kiwi

Use whatever is easiest, preferred for you - seasonal items and local produce are your best options as they're fresh and needn't travel far to get to you.

Set Up:

Cut your fresh fruit into bite size pieces before arranging in bowls and placing them on your buffet table. Next, arrange your waffle bowls next to the fruit to make it easy for your guests to build their own dessert.

We used washable bowls to hold the fruit, but the same idea can be done with waffle cones if you plan to eat them quickly - otherwise they'll get soggy from the fruit juices.
