Cotton Candy Frosted Brownies

Normally I don't like to fill my little cousin with a lot of sugar, especially when I'm babysitting him and can't run when the sugar rush hits. However, this past Friday was a special occasion - he was awarded "Student of the Month" for his impressive and improved grades.

To celebrate I told him we could bake anything his little heart desired, to which he, of course, replied - COTTON CANDY BROWNIES!

Now, I've made cotton candy cupcakes in the past, so I'm fully aware of the challenge working with the fluffy stuff and hot baked goods presents. Unless you garnish and eat all at once, your cotton candy dessert goes to moist mess in seconds.

I won't lie - as we walked into the grocery store I was beginning to question my good intentions. How was I going to not disappoint little cousin and avoid an INSANE sugar rush by keeping dessert portioned if a big bag of cotton candy was involved?

Luckily, I made a discovery.

I'm big into cake box mixes and I always use Duncan Hines. As I was reaching for their fudgy milk chocolate brownie mix my eye caught their -- ready for this?! -- new line of Frosting Creations. They're are 12 different flavors in all including Bubble Gum, Cherry Vanilla, Mocha AND Cotton Candy!

I was so thrilled upon seeing this frosting I think I was more excited for these brownies than my cousin.

Anyway, we went home and had some ridiculous fun making our brownies. While the brownies baked we mixed up our frosting. It comes with a plain base to which you add a packet of powdered flavoring - a lot like the rice mixes you might make for dinner.

It worked out fantastic and our brownies were delicious - a bit sweet, but still really good!
