Craft Cool Summer Shades for the Kids

Sunglasses are a summer staple - and not just for adults! The summer sun makes even our kids crave a pair of cool shades. Make your wee one look like a rock star by embellishing a pair of basic plastic shades.

Supplies

sunglasses (we got these at the Dollar Store)
rhinestones in a complimentary color (think outside the fake diamond box)
Mini Glue Dots®

Directions

Step 1: Start with a basic pair of plastic frames; the ones pictured here are not specifically kid frames, but they fit our three-year-old model just fine.

Step 2: Place Mini Glue Dots around the outside of the frames -- if your frames are wide enough, go all the way around the lenses. Affix your sparkly bling to the Mini Glue Dots.

We used adhesive rhinestones, designed for scrapbooking, but we opted to attach them with the Mni Glue Dots instead of the adhesive that comes with them -- the Mini Glue Dots offer a better hold on the plastic frames.

For a more sparkly look, add rhinestones or glitter on the arms of the glasses as well. And perhaps one well-placed rhinestone on the lenses, way down in the corner, just for a little something extra!
