A classic Thanksgiving craft gets extra attention when turned into a placemat. Make handprint turkeys for each family member, and this easy and inexpensive craft becomes a keepsake to make year after year.

Supplies

  • One sheet brown construction paper
  • Other paper in different designs and colors
  • Decorative paper approximately 13" x 9" (placemat size)
  • Pencil or pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
Step 1: Trace and cut out each person's handprint onto different color or design paper.
Step 2: Use a glue stick to arrange each handprint on the brown construction paper, and attach the entire piece to the placemat-size decorative paper. Add small circles for eyes and red paper wattle.
Step 3: Write each person's name under his or her handprint along with the year the placemat is created.
Step 4: To preserve the completed project, have the placemat laminated to prevent tearing and fading.
