Everyone has been in a situation at one point or another at a party where they unknowingly put their own foot in their mouth.

Avoid embarrassing snafus like asking when someone's due date is when they're not even pregnant (ouch!) or giving off hostile body language (yikes!) by following these simple conversation tips.

Keep this information in mind at your next soiree and you'll be sure to knock everyone's socks off.

It's normal to get a little nervous when you're mingling at a big party. Try to incorporate some of these "DOs" and avoid these "DONT's" to ensure that you will make a good impression on the guests.

  • Interrupt
  • Brag
  • Ask how old someone is
  • Dominate the conversation
  • Talk nonstop about yourself
  • Look around the room while in a conversation
  • Ask invasive questions about someones age, whether they are pregnant, and so on, or you might end up red faced!

DO:

  • Make eye contact
  • Listen
  • Ask open-ended questions
  • Ask about their interests
  • Be engaging
