Cupcake Garden in a Flowerpot

This adorable Mother's Day Cupcake idea is perfect for an afternoon tea or outdoor brunch. Cirencester Cupcakes put together this quaint little edible garden in a flowerpot! I think it's adorable!

Supplies

Terra Cotta Pots
Box of cake mix
Paper baking cups
Decorator's icing (green)
Pastry bag
Fondant

Directions:

To make your own version of this cupcake, purchase small terra cotta pots that will contain your cupcakes. Wash the pots thoroughly with water. (Note: the cupcakes will be in their paper baking cups and simply rest in these pots. Do not bake cupcakes directly into the pot unless they have been made specifically for food purposes.)

Bake a batch of cupcakes using paper baking cups.

Pick up prepared decorator's icing in a green grass color and put it into a pastry bag fitted with a writing tip.

Pipe frosting "grass" on top of the cupcakes.

The garden decorations can easily be made by molding fondant, an edible sugar clay, into shapes like flowers, a watering can, ladybug, even a picket fence.

Check baking supply or craft stores for prepared fondant in a variety of colors and follow package directions for tips on working with it.
