Cookie jars get a whole new look with this tutorial for turning canning jars into party favors. Filled with everything your guests need to create a cookie at home, these DIY cookie jars are simple to make and offer a cost effective parting gift for everyone who attends your cookie swap party or any holiday party, really!

Don't have time to measure out the ingredients? Don't worry - they look just as fabulous filled with freshly baked cookies if that's easier!
Supplies:
Scissors
Decorative Fabric
Festive paper
Pen
Canning Jar
Dry cookie mix
Cookie cutter
Directions:
Step 1: Turn your canning jar upside down so that it rests on top of the back of whatever fabric you are using. Measure out the diameter of the canning lid by drawing a circle around the jar large and onto the fabric, leaving an additional 1/2-inch so that it will drape over the seal of the jar.
Once you've measured, cut out the circles from the fabric, taking care that you have one for each jar. Don't worry about seams or ends being perfect. These are meant to look charming, so perfect won't work!
Step 2: Trace the lid onto the underside of your decorative paper and cut the circles out; taking care that you have one for each jar.
Step 3: After the jar packaging is prepped, fill the jars with the dry cookie mix of your choice along with a cookie cutter. We placed our cookie cutter directly into the jar, but you could also attach by tying around the outside of the jar with a ribbon.
Step 4: Place the fabric over the top of the canning jar, then the lid, followed by the paper circle and then complete the jar by sealing the lid to the top of the jar.
