This DIY heart hair accessory is a cute homemade Valentine for little girls to help make and give to their friends on Valentine’s Day.
DIY felt hair clips are simple to craft with kids and also darling for them to wear all year round. We went with red felt for the occasion, but alternative colors are fun, too – just don’t forget to print out the free Valentine printable and attach your hair clips to them before handing them out!
While Valentine’s Day treats are popular, this is also a fun, sugar-free Valentine’s Day option, which I’m sure many parents will appreciate, and something that kids can wear over and over again, so it’s well worth the added effort to make!

Supplies:
White Embroidery Thread
Scissors
Hot Glue
Directions:
Step 1: Print out the I Heart U Printable from the link in the supply list. Cut out one of the hearts to use as a template for the hair accessory.
Step 2: Trace the heart onto the felt. Double up the felt and cut out the heart, so you have 2 identical heart shapes.
Step 3: Place one heart atop the other and then, using an embroidery needle, stitch around the hearts’ edges, leaving space at the end to stuff with batting. Once the batting is inside, stitch the heart closed.

Step 4: Place a small piece of felt in between the alligator clip and hot glue to the back of the heart.
Step 5: Using the uncut I Heart U Printable, punch a hole in the side of the heart and insert the alligator clip inside so the hair accessory heart sits on top of the printed heart.
Step 6: Give out as a cute homemade Valentines to friends!
